Is my new pottery food safe? Can I put it in my microwave? What about my dishwasher?
All of the pieces in our Tableware Collection are made for functional kitchen and table use. It's lead-free and food safe. You can use your pottery in the microwave, freezer, or even your oven. You will want to avoid sudden temperature changes, like taking a bowl out of the fridge and putting it in a 350° oven or putting a hot dish into a sink of cold water. This is called "thermal shock" and can shatter your piece. Pieces used in your oven should always be placed in a cold oven so they can gradually heat along with the oven. Your pottery is dishwasher safe, but we recommend handwashing for best maintenance. With just a little extra care, stoneware is very durable and should last for years.
I ordered a set or several of the same item, why are the pieces not identical?
Every item from Oak Lodge Pottery is handcrafted, step by step, from start to finish. Due to the nature of handmade goods, slight variations are to be expected. Each glaze batch and kiln firing also create slightly different color results as well. Each piece of Oak Lodge Pottery is an original work of functional art, whose unique beauty is reflected in it's individuality.
